| Your chef service: What to expect |
| Your "chef of the day" comes to your home to prepare and package all of your custom meals. Current health regulations prevent the chef from preparing any meals from his or her own home; you are not purchasing a meal delivery service of any kind. Your chef usually brings all of his/her own supplies, pots and pans, spices, knives, etc., whatever is needed to complete your service. All of your dinners will be prepared in one day, usually within a five to six hour time frame. More time may be needed if you choose a larger service option. You do not need to be at home while your chef is working; many clients are at work for the day or even out of town on the day of the service. Your chef is part of a national chefs' organization: United States Personal Chef Association (for more info, go to www.uspca.com) and has been certified in food safety through ServSafe. |
| What is expected from you: |
|
The chef expects a clean kitchen to work in and expects that all of your appliances (oven/stovetop/exhaust fan) are in good working order.
This means that the sink should be free of dirty dishes and your oven should not have any baked on food on the bottom that may burn or smoke.
If you have not used your oven lately, please check its condition before the chef arrives and report any problems that are in need of repair.
For instance if your stovetop has 4 burners, but only 2 are in good working order, this will greatly affect the amount of time needed to complete your service.
Please check the oven's internal temperature before the arrival of your chef. You can do this with an inexpensive oven thermometer purchased at a local hardware store. If the temperature does not reach the desired temperature during testing, this can be easily corrected by a local handyman. A variation of 10 degrees or more in desired temperature can adversely effect the quality of the meals that are prepared. If there are dirty dishes or excess clutter on the kitchen counter, these items will be moved in order to complete your service and then returned to their original location once the service has been completed. Please check that any overhead lights are working properly and any bulbs are replaced if necessary. |
